What Makes Scramble Different – and Better

Today’s blog post starts with news that we’ve changed our price structure at all three Scramble locations starting Jan. 1, 2026. The new structure is designed to help us staff up to better serve you on weekends and “school’s out” days.  Some prices have increased a bit, while normal weekdays are much cheaper.  

We still offer many ways to save money at Scramble. We also provide many special offers on our social media pages and weekly emails – follow us and subscribe to get regular news of these deals!

But we know price increases are never fun to experience. We’re parents too, after all, and we face the same cost-of-living jumps everyone else has encountered recently. We also know you have other options when it comes to spending money, and we work hard to earn your support. To make sure of the value we provide, we think it’s important for us to define “The Scramble Difference” – three reasons why we believe we’re the superior choice to other family entertainment options in Northern Virginia. 

PLAY THAT CAPTIVATES THE KIDS

Of course, the most important reason to come to Scramble is this: kids always have a great time here! We truly believe you’ll never hear a child say they’re bored at Scramble. 

Beyond fun though, we believe Scramble offers the right kind of play. Play is an important part of childhood development. Scramble is almost unique in the way we cater to all types of play – physical and cognitive – so that kids can master different skills and grow as intelligent, creative, strong, and social human beings. 

The main two types of play are physical and cognitive. Physical play means active movement that keeps young bodies strong and flexible, enhances balancing skills, and improves stamina. Cognitive play means games, puzzles, and imaginary activities that develop young brains by building creativity, imagination, and social skills. 

Just about every family entertainment center you’ll visit offers extensive physical play opportunities; very few have the cognitive play activities that we do. Our quality of play keeps children engaged for longer and better supports their healthy development.

MAKING THINGS EASIER ON PARENTS

Our next-most important audience is you – the parent, grandparent, guardian, nanny, and person reading this blog post! We want you to also have a great time at Scramble, so we do everything we can to make sure your visit is easy and enjoyable.

When your children are truly engaged in their play, that gives you more time to enjoy yourself. We ask that you supervise your children of course – but this is so much easier when they are playing in our well-kept, well-designed, and enriching Scramble play areas. This gives you time and mental space to enjoy seeing them play by themselves, browse your phone or laptop, catch up with friends, or just relax as an adult.  Look around Scramble and see how many adults are able to do normal grown-up things while keeping an eye on their kids.

Our amenities include plenty of comfortable seating, sturdy tables, and free wi-fi – that way you can work remotely if you need to, or just surf the web for fun. And our staff works hard to make sure your experience is top-notch when it comes to making reservations and booking parties. Have a large group you want to bring in, but need some last-minute flexibility with your plans? We take customer service seriously and will make every effort to accommodate your needs.

From the very beginning, we’ve always believed in giving families as many reasons to spend time at Scramble as possible. And since we’re foodies, delicious family-centered meals (plus a cup of locally roasted coffee or glass of wine for mom and dad) were high on our list.

That’s why we work with well-known local consulting executive chef Liam LaCavita, why we offer special events like wine tastings at our Falls Church location, and why we operate the full-scale Union Station Cafe at our Shirlington location.
